My Job Will Be The Death Of Me

So it's monday morning and I've been at work for a total of 2 hours. I am sitting here on my break and I have had 4 complaints shot at me.. SO FAR.

"Why isnt the new customer added to the customer list yet?"
"Why is there no more money on the stamp machine? Oh and the ink is low.. Can you fix it?"
"Did you order my fan yet? I'm sweltering over here!"
"Did you make my mailing label yet?"
And thats just on the first few minutes of my coffee break. Earlier this morning there were many more annoying questions. I can't do everything at once and I have to take all these things and decide what gets a higher priority over another.. Not to mention I have about 4 bosses and they all breath down my neck with their own ideas on what is "high priority".

There is the head of marketing who insists that the new 2009 door brochures are the highest priority. If they don't get done in time our customers will continue using outdated price-lists, and order discontinued product. So yes, touche. Brochures are a high priority.

But then, there is the accounting manager. He says that invoicing is the highest importance! If we don't invoice our customers than how is our company going to make money? Also running the cheques is up there.. We have to pay our bills! Indeed we do, indeed we do. That is also 2 more important jobs to be done.

Of course there is the production manager. Doing his inventory.. must do his inventory. If the inventory isnt up to date & correct then the guys working in the shop are not going to be able to finish orders. If the system says we have 1,500 lin ft and they only have 500 on hand, then they're fucked. So as you can see that is another task that needs to be done.

Well, none of my bosses understand why their job for me isnt being done before anything else! From day to day I have to decide what gets done and what will have to wait until "further notice".. Not to mention that those are just 3 or 4 of my daily tasks. There is a lot more bull-poopie to do here. Mailing labels, credit applications, dealing with annoying customers who keep phoning over and over and over again because "no one is answering the phone over there".. and then transfering them over to customer service who says to me "Im not answering that call, I dont want to talk to them." and then having them call me back AGAIN because they keep getting voicemail. So then I have to make up a lie and say that the customer service guys are currently with a customer so cant answer the call.. When I really want to say they're being lazy assholes. Anyway, there's also ordering all the office supplies, all the printer ink & etc.. Plus I have to deal with 10 people coming in a day and filling out applications to work here. (And none of them are going to be hired becuase we are not hiring right now) But we are always accepting applications! So I can't leave my desk when they come incase they steal everything LOL.. And then of course there are bank deposits, credit deposits.. mail in & out.. Designing new business cards & website maintenance!

My God. I need a vacation. But alas, taking a vacation results in my work being piled up because no one takes over when Im gone. So I rarely take off an entire week. Usually I make long weekends here and there. Thankfully I have a long weekend coming up this week.

I really do love my job, I love the people & the work. That is why I am still working here. My bosses are laidback for the most part. I just dont know how much longer I can take if I can't even have my breaks to myself.

I would bitch some more, but the phone is ringing. (its the 4th time from the same customer.. I wonder which customer service rep is ignoring their calls now..)
